BAAS, Danielle
Belgian of Dutch origin, she was born in 1958. She attended the Jette’s Academy of Music and carried on her studies at the Brussel’s Royal Academy of Music, always fascinated by creating.
In 1997 she won a fourth prize at an international composition contest in the USA, as well as a composition contest for carillon. She was also requested for a guitar solo by a Swiss publishing house after a cancelled composition contest. Her works have been played in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Bosnia, Spain, Germany, China (composition competition 2003), Brazil and the USA.
Danielle Baas collaborates with several authors, among which the French poetess Marie-Claude Jaslet-Guézec, the American poetess Linda Rimel, and Nicolas Gianniodis, a poet of Greek origin. At the present time, she also conduts a choir.
In 2001 she created the Yolande Uyttenhove Ensemble, a group of musicians with variable geometry, aimed at promoting the creating of Belgian contemporary works and broadcasting the Belgian music abroad.

She receives in 2006 the Merit Award as Member of Honor Committee du Youth for Justice and Peace composition contest (Serbia).
